13.2. Setting of the mechanical stroke limits

Note. To stroke the actuator it is necessary to electrically power the control system, put the 3 position selector in
OFF and select the routine PURGE, following the relevant procedure, in order to stroke the actuator by means the
OPEN/CLOSE push-buttons.
The setting of the open valve position is performed by adjusting the travel stop screw which is on the left side of
the actuator (screwed into the end flange of the hydraulic cylinder).
For the adjustment of the travel stop screw in the end flange of the hydraulic cylinder proceed as follows :
- Unscrew (not completely) the counter nut from the cylinder end flange.
- If the actuator angular stroke is stopped before reaching the end position (fully open), unscrew the stop screw
by turning it anticlockwise with an Allen wrench (maintaining in its position the counter nut with a suitable
wrench) until the valve reaches the correct position.
- If the actuator angular stroke is stopped beyond the end position (fully open), screw the stop screw by turning
it clockwise until the valve reaches the correct position.
- Screw the counter nut of the cylinder end flange.
The setting of the closed valve position is performed by adjusting the travel stop screw on the right side of the
actuator screwed into the spring cartridge enclosure. The operations are the same performed for opening side.
Note: The metal seated butterfly valve must be closed by torque, consequently the stopper has to be set according
to valve maker instructions

13.3. Instruction for start up

13.3.1. Hydraulic controls

Verify the oil level by means the filling cup (see figure on par.5.3). The oil level is correct if it is 40/60 mm
above the top of the filling device (be sure that the pressure discharge valve is open in order to discharge the
accumulator);
Verify that all fittings are correctly fastened and the pipes are not damaged;
Close the pressure discharge valve;
The hydraulic system is ready. for working.

13.3.2. Electric connections

Connect the electrical feed, control and signal lines to the actuator, by linking them up with the terminal blocks of
the electrical components. In order to do this, the housing covers must be removed without damaging the coupling
surfaces, the O-rings or the gaskets.
Remove the plugs from the cable entries.
For electrical connections use components (cable glands, cables, hoses, conduits) which meet the requirements
and codes applicable to the plant specifications (mechanical protection and/or explosion proof protection).
Screw the cable glands tightly into the threaded inlets, so as to guarantee the weatherproof and explosion proof
protection.
Insert the connection cables into the electrical enclosures through the cable glands, and connect the cable wires to
the terminal according to the applicable wiring diagram and the following electric data(SE 89F-79).
If conduits are used, it is advisable to carry out the connection to the electrical enclosures by inserting hoses so as
not to cause anomalous stress on the housing cable entries.
Replace the plastic plugs of the unused enclosure entries by metal ones, to guarantee perfect weatherproof
tightness and to comply with the explosion proof protection codes.
