7.0 MAINTENANCE

7.1 Maintaining the desiccant bed

The basic maintenance principle of the DFD dryer is to prevent plastic granules and dust from
entering the blowers, coolers, heating elements and the desiccant beds (2) and (3) in particular as
this will adversely affect the performance and life of the machine.
a. The return air cartridge filter (8) should be cleaned once a week or as necessary. If large
quantities of dust-laden material have been processed, e.g. regrinds, we recommend cleaning
the filter every day.
b. The fresh air filter (11) should be cleaned once a month.
c. The regeneration air cooler (15) and the ventilator should be cleared once a month by air-
blasting.
d. All hoses and connections should be checked for wear and tear at least every six months.

7.2 Maintaining the air filters
