Setting the H needle
1. Fit the trimmer head T35 and use 2.7 mm plain cord. The
cord length should be as standard, i.e. reach the knife on
the trimmer guard.
2. Warm up the engine approx. 4 minutes at 9,500 - 10,000
rpm.
3. Turn the H-needle anti-clockwise to the limit where the
engine starts to splutter.
4. Then turn the needle 0.1 turns clockwise.
5. Fit the stop plug on the H-needle (see below).

Fuel system
Adjustment after cleaning
After complete cleaning, replacement of carburettor nozzles or complete carburettor,
both basic setup and fi ne adjustment must be carried out.
The basic setup is:
H = 1.2 revs open
L = 1.2 revs open
For the adjustment to be correct, it must be done under load and with warmed-up en-
gine. Also see above "Fine adjustment after running-in".

Setting the L needle
1. Fit the trimmer head T35 and use 2.7 mm plain cord. The
cord length should be as standard, i.e. reach the knife on the
trimmer guard.
2. Warm up the engine approx. 4 minutes at 9,500 - 10,000 rpm.
3. Turn the L-needle to 1.2 - 1.3 revs open.
4. If the speed exceeds 3,700 rpm, reduce it with the aid of the
idling speed's T-screw (T) and a carry out a new adjustment
in accordance with point 3.
5. Then turn the L-needle anticlockwise so that the speed drops by
300 rpm.
6. Then adjust the idle speed to 2,800 - 3,100 rpm by turning
the T-screw.
7. Fit the stop plug on the L-needle (see below).
Stop plug assembly
The stop plugs have two grooves (A) and (B).
Push in the plug using the tool 540 06 82-01, for example, so
that the ball (C) goes into the groove.
Now it is possible to turn the carburettor needle a quarter turn in
either direction with the aid of screwdriver 501 60 02-03.
If the locking plug is pushed in so that the ball (C) goes into the
groove (B), the carburettor needle can instead be turned a maxi-
mum of half a turn anti-clockwise (leaner fuel/air mix).
