Setting the Country Code

Setting the Country Code

Introduction

You can connect a terminal to the console port, known as port 9 by the DECserver
Network Access Software (DNAS). Once the terminal is connected, use DNAS
commands to set the modem country code and to log out the port. If necessary, you can
use the console port to send AT commands (see Appendix F, AT Commands) directly
to the modem.

Displaying the Current Country Setting

Issue the SHOW/LIST/MONITOR COUNTRY command at the console port to
display all of the valid country codes and the current country location setting.
Setting the Country Code
Before connecting the modem to a telephone line, set the country code for the country
in which the DECserver 900MC is used.
In order for the new country code to take effect, you must reboot the DECserver
900MC.
To set the country code, issue the following command at the console port:
DEFINE COUNTRY country_number
Valid country codes are listed in Table 7-1.
Example
This example shows how to set the country standard for South Africa and reboot the
DECserver 900MC using a 10-minute delay:
Local> DEFINE COUNTRY 16
Local> INITIALIZE DELAY 10
For more information about the INITIALIZE command, refer to the DECserver
Network Access Server Command Reference manual.
