FUEL FILLER CAP – fig. 103
To refuel, if your car has central locking,
unlock the doors, open the flap A and un-
screw the cap B; the cap is fitted with a
special device C which fastens it to the flap
so that it cannot be mislaid.
If your car does not have a central lock-
ing, operate lever A-fig. 104 to release
the flap.
In some versions, the cap B may be pro-
vided with a lock and key; use the igni-
tion key to access the flap A-fig. 100,
turn it counterclockwise and unscrew the
cap itself.
The sealing may cause a slight pressure in-
crease in the tank. A little breathing off,
while slackening the cap is absolutely nor-
mal.

When refuelling, hook the cap onto the
device inside the lid as shown in fig. 103.
WARNING
Do not bring naked flames
or lit cigarettes near to the
fuel tank opening: fire risk. Keep your
face away from the fuel filler to pre-
vent breathing in harmful vapours.
PROTECTING
THE ENVIRONMENT
The following devices are used for reduc-
ing petrol fuel engine emissions:
❒ three-way catalytic converter;
❒ oxygen sensors;
❒ evaporation control system.

In addition, do not let the engine run, even
for a test, with one or more spark plugs
disconnected.
The following devices are used for reduc-
ing diesel fuel engine emissions:
❒ oxidising catalytic converter;
❒ exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR).
WARNING
Under normal operating con-
ditions, the catalytic con-
verter becomes very hot. Do not park
the car on grass, dry leaves, pine nee-
dles or other flammable material: fire
hazard.
