Purpose
This document describes the process for replacing the 53xx RAID or disk storage power cable.
Affected Models
Veritas NetBackup 5330 Appliance Storage Shelf
The NetBackup 5330 Appliance Primary Storage Shelf and Expansion Storage Shelf each contain
60 SAS hard disk drives. The front panel of the Primary Storage Shelf and Expansion Storage Shelf
contain five drawers, which are numbered 1-5, starting with the top drawer. Each drawer contains 12
disk drives, numbered 1 - 12, starting at the front left corner. The front panels of both systems are
physically and functionally the same, as seen in the following diagram.
The following diagram shows the front panel LEDs. The table identifies the components.
The following table describes the LED status definitions.

    Removing and replacing 53xx RAID or disk storage power cable This document describes how to replace a NetBackup 5330 RAID or disk storage power cable to the primary storage shelf or the expansion storage shelf while the appliance is operating. One of the power cables to each storage shelf must be operating at all times.
  • Page 4 HSP #144: Storage Power Cable Replacement To remove the power cable Locate and identify the storage shelf that has the faulty power cable. Do the following as applicable: • Disconnect the faulty power cable from the primary shelf. Warning: Replace one power cable at a time only. If you need to remove both power cables from the Primary Storage Shelf, ensure that there are no I/O operations on the appliance in progress, and then turn off the Primary Shelf.
  • Page 5 HSP #144: Storage Power Cable Replacement • On the Expansion Storage Shelf, connect a power cord to the power supply socket. Connect the other end of each cord to the appropriate AC power source.
