Yoke
The yoke is a U-shaped part designed to hold the wedge-probe assembly. The
yoke uses a pair of pivot buttons to engage into the wedge. Assembled to the SLA
with bearings, the yoke rotates to maintain the wedge parallel to the surface to be
inspected. The pivot buttons allow the wedge to swivel (see Figure 2-8 on
page 27).

2.3.1

Adjusting the Carbide Wear Pins on Wedges

Wedges are designed to hold a transducer or a phased array probe in order to ensure
an adequate ultrasonic diffusion through the surface to be inspected, and to direct the
couplant flow correctly. To limit wearing of the wedge, carbide wear pins can be
inserted at each corner of the contact surface of the wedge (see Figure 2-9 on page 28).
