To avoid injury, be careful when handling the magnetic wheels; the magnetic pull of
the wheels is strong and could cause harm such as a pinched finger—for example,
between two wheels, or between a wheel and a steel surface.
Encoder
A wheel encoder measures the scanner displacement, to determine the position
on the scan axis (see Figure 1-4 on page 18).
The encoder is waterproof and comes with a cable. The encoder is compatible
with the OmniScan SX and MX2, as well as with the OmniScan MX and the
TomoScan FOCUS LT with the use of an adapter. The encoder is also spring-
loaded to ensure that it remains in contact with the inspection surface, with
adequate pressure for different pipe diameters.
