2. On the water-manifold end of the scanner:
a) Remove the cable from the encoder assembly.
b) Remove the thumb screw that holds the encoder assembly, and then pull this
assembly away from the scanner (see Figure 2-2 on page 20).
The remaining frame screws are now easy to access.
