6.9.4 Check the V-belt tension, if necessary replace the V-belt

Remove the V-belt guard Ä Fig. 66.
Check condition and tightness of V-belt Ä Fig. 67.
Compression measurement approx. 10 - 30 mm
(0.4 - 1.2 in)
NOTICE!
Replace a damaged V-belt.
The V-belt cannot be tightened manually. Always
replace the V-belt, if the compression measure-
ment is exceeded.
Remove the safety cover (1) Ä Fig. 68.
Disassemble the front V-belt pulley (2).
Take off the V-belt and replace it with a new one.
Attach the spacer (3).
Assemble the front V-belt pulley and fasten it.
Assemble the guard and fasten it with screws. (Tightening
torque: 15 Nm (11 ft.lbs)).
Install the top V-belt guard .
