Hardware Management Console Upgrade Determination Diskette
Preform this procedure only if the 7060 will be attached to an existing HMC.
Diskette P/N: 51H9269
The Hardware Management Console Upgrade Determination Diskette is used to determine if an
existing Hardware Management Console can be upgraded.
Work with the customer to identify any Hardware Management Consoles he would like to have
upgraded.
Execute the diskette on all Hardware Management Console's the customer plans to upgrade. The
diskette appends eligibility information on a file.
For additional information view the README.TXT file.
1. Insert the diskette into drive "A" of the Hardware Management Console
2. Open a OS/2 window or full screen session
3. From the command prompt enter A:
4. Enter HMCUDD
5. The Hardware Management Console Upgrade Eligibility Detection window displays
a. Enter the customer identification number
b. Enter the Hardware Management Console's Model and Type
c. Enter Hardware Management Console's Serial Number
d. Select Process
The diskette will determine if the Hardware Management Console can be upgraded. If it is
determined that the existing Hardware Management Console is not upgradeable and you were not
shipped a replacement Hardware Management Console determine if the customer wants the
installation to continue. If the customer does not want you to continue, notify your marketing
representative of this situation.
6. Select Done to exit the program.
7. Select Shutdown from the launchpad
Diskette Labeled HWMCA-Upgrade is the Save/Restore diskette
The Save/Restore diskette is used to save customer configuration information from the existing
Hardware Management Console and to restore the information to the upgraded or replacement
Hardware Management Console.
8. Insert the Save/Restore diskette into drive "A" of the Hardware Management Console
9. Press and hold the CTRL key, ALT key and DEL key to restart the Hardware Management
Console
The Save/Restore panel displays
10. Press the F1 key to save configuration data.
Follow the instructions on the screen. You will also need Customer save diskette
11. Store diskette for future use.
12. If an existing Hardware Management Console is found to be upgradable perform the upgrade
instructions shipped with the hardware upgrade.
