• HOSTN: cems1
The hostname must be defined in /etc/hosts (associated with HOSTIP).
The container interface information is as follows:
Logical interface: enP3p9s0f1
Physical interface: Port C10-T2
HOSTIP considerations
The default choice for the container HOSTIP (network bridge based on C10-T2) is the /24 network. This
will make the HOSTIP .1.
For example, HOSTSUBNET: 192.168.45.0/24 will result in a HOSTIP of 192.168.45.1.
If .1 is not an option, you may change based on the following rules:
• For a HOSTIP of .129 use a HOSTSUBNET of 192.168.45.128/25. This will allow a CONTAINER_IP
greater than .130.
• For a HOSTIP of .193 use a HOSTSUBNET of 192.168.45.192/26. This will allow a CONTAINER_IP
greater than .194.
Note:
• As the netmask increase, the range of available IP addresses decrease.
• You must keep all management interfaces on the same subnet.

Installation prerequisites (SSR task)

Customers must fill the "Installation worksheet" on page 63 for the SSR to start installation. This
process should be done using the Technical Delivery Assessment (TDA) process. The worksheet
describes the IP addresses that the SSR sets on each node.
Racked or rackless installation:
• If the system did not come racked, the SSR would rack the necessary components before the
installation starts.
• ESS 3000 needs to be placed in the rack location provided by the user. For example, EIA 1-2 and 3-4.
– Each additional ESS 3000 unit needs 2U space in the rack.
• The EMS node needs to be racked into the frame.
– One EMS node is required per ESS 3000 cluster.
• Management Switch
– A 1Gb/10Gb switch is required.
– There must be a dedicated switch for ESS or shared switch with isolated VLAN for ESS.
– It is recommended to procure this switch from IBM, but customer-provided switch can also be used.
If the management switch was purchased from IBM and was racked along with the ESS system,
setup for VLAN has been done correctly and no further configuration will be required. However, if it
did not come racked, the switch will require to be setup with the correct VLAN configuration. Please
contact IBM service for support on this procedure.
If the switch was not purchased from IBM, there must be two isolated VLANS for ESS management.
Do note that the customer provided switch might not be supported by IBM.
– The switch must be placed in the rack with the Ethernet cables running for the SSR to start.
• High-speed Switch
– 100 Gb InfiniBand or 100 Gb Ethernet is supported (from IBM or customer provided).
