9) Select the 5. Assign IP address to Interface option to set the management interface IP. Use
the c key to change the IP address. A new panel will open which will allow the SSR to change
the IP address. Press Ctrl + G keys to save the changes.
10) To run the SSR tool with the updated IP address, select the 5. Assign IP address to Interface
option, and then press the Enter key.
11) Use the Exit command to quit essutils. After you are logged out, disconnect your laptop
from C10-T4 and if applicable, put back the Ethernet cable that was removed.
c. Using an Ethernet cable, connect laptop to the HMC2 port (Figure 37 on page 65) to run Advanced
System Management Interface (ASMI).
1) Assign 169.254.3.1 netmask 255.255.255.0(/24) to your laptop.
2) Perform a ping test to the HMC2 port (169.254.3.147).
3) Access 169.254.3.147 by using a web browser.
4) Log in to ASMI using the default username and password:
• username: admin
• password: <serial number of server>
5) Check for any serviceable events.
6) Logout and disconnect the Ethernet cable from the HMC2 port once done with ASMI.
d. Visually inspect for any bad LED lights on the EMS node. For information on how to debug common
Power 8 node issues, see the Troubleshooting, service, and support for POWER8 processor-based
systems section in the Power8 Knowledge Center.
3. For Canister 1 (top)
a. Connect the laptop using the Ethernet to the service port. See Figure 29 on page 54 for the
service port location (also called as technician port).
