DHW secondary return
DHW secondary return connection is available on FS 200, FS 300 and FS 400. External
pump is required for DHW re-circulation.
Where secondary return circuits are used an additional expansion vessel may be
required.
Procedure:
• Switch off and isolate all mains electricity supply
to the unit.
• Close hot isolation valve
• Slowly close the mains water supply valve.
• Slowly open the primary F & R bypass valve and
then slowly close both the flow and return valves.
Drain down hot water system including the tank
(use drain cock).
• Check pressure in expansion vessel(s) and
recharge if necessary.
Refilling and re-opening the HIU is as per the
process for the initial opening and filling of the HIU.
The immersion heater or immersion heater boss can be
removed for inspection access. Prior to removing the
immersion heater or boss, please ensure the tank has
been drained down fully as per '4.7 Tank draining' above.
Take care not to damage the immersion heater when
removing. There is a risk that the immersion heater is
larger than the connection point due to the thermal
expansion that occur during normal usage. If the
immersion heater has expanded, please do not attempt to
remove this using force. If removal of immersion heater is
difficult we recommend using an endoscopy for internal
inspection with the immersion heater only slightly pulled
out to allow insertion of endoscopy.
