It is a kind of block encryption standard adopted by the United
States to replace the DES. At present, it has become the most
widely used standard in the field of symmetric key cryptography.
EPON is a point-to-multipoint fiber access technology defined by
IEEE 802.3. It is characterized by long transmission distance and
fast transmission rate. EPON, a single fiber bidirectional system, is
composed of the OLT (Central Office), ONU (user side), and the
Optical Distribution Network (ODN) between them.
It is based on perfection of the broadband access method in optical
network technologies. Through FTTB and Ethernet cable-to-
household, users can access the broadband.
Fiber is installed on the roadside within 1000 feet away from the
Central Office to the households or offices.
Namely, fiber is used to connect the household directly. FTTH not
only helps gain greater bandwidth, but also increase transparency of
data format, rate, wavelength, and protocol. Moreover, it is more
adaptive to environment and power conditions, and simplifies the
maintenance and installation.
