11 Daily Cleaning

The printer is designed to print out barcodes including important information and to
print out letters. If some of the parts are dirty, the printer cannot print precise
barcodes and letters clearly, and besides, the dirt causes some trouble in the printer.
Clean the printer regularly using the printer cleaning kit * or cleaning sheet. *
WARNING
• Be sure to power off the printer before cleaning the print head or platen roller.
Failing to do so could cause electric shock.
When to Clean
Rough indications for cleaning are as follows.
■Cleaning using the printer cleaning kit
(Print head, platen roller, media sensor)
• By 1 roll of media, or by 50 m (164 ft.) of printing in the media
■Cleaning using the cleaning sheet
(Print head)
• By 6 rolls of media, or by 300 m (984 ft.) of printing in the media
* Read them as guides. If the parts become dirty, clean them any time.
Notes for Cleaning
• Use the printer cleaning kit * or cleaning sheet * for cleaning.
• If you use a hard tool like a screwdriver for cleaning, it may damage the part.
Especially, be sure not to use it to clean the print head.
• Be sure to power off the printer before cleaning.
* The printer cleaning kit and cleaning sheet are optional. Contact your SATO reseller
or technical support center to purchase them.
