Before You Start Please read this guide thoroughly as it describes the basic installation of the device. Additional configuration that is needed to deploy the device in a specific environment can be performed by using online help. This guide also provides an example of a typical 6400LF2 deployment that can be used as a guideline for your installation. -

Instructions Step 1 − Connecting the Cables Figure 1: 6400LF2 Back Panel 1. Connect one end of an Ethernet crossover cable to local LAN port 1 of 6400LF. This port can be seen in area “B” of Figure 1: 6400LF2 Front Panel. Connect the other end of the cable to your computer’s Ethernet port. - Page 4 c) Connect the positive and negative cables to their corresponding terminals, also located in area “A” of Figure 1: 6400LF2 Back Panel. d) Turn on the DC power supply for the 6400LF2. 5. Turn the power switch “on”, as shown in area “A” of Figure 2: 6400LF2 Front Panel (see the following page).

- Page 6 Step 2 − Configuring the 6400LF2 You can configure the 6400LF2 EdgeMarc and 6400LF2 EdgeProtect appliances using a simple web-based user interface. Configure the 6400LF2 EdgeView appliance using YaST, a pre-installed, LINUX-based system management tool. Configuring the 6400LF2 EdgeMarc and 6400LF2 EdgeProtect You can configure the 6400LF2 EdgeMarc and 6400LF2 EdgeProtect appliance using a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
