Disconnecting the LCD flex cable If your tape drive has an LCD, follow the instructions in this section to disconnect the LCD flex cable before you remove the faceplate. If your tape drive does not have an LCD on the faceplate, skip this section and go to Replacing the faceplate...

Replacing the faceplate Unlock the LCD flex cable connector by pulling one end of the tab and then the other toward the cable (see Figure 2). .ECKHA Loosening the LCD flex cable connector Gently pull the LCD flex cable out of the connector. Note: The instructions in this section apply to both LCD and non-LCD faceplates.

! Replacing the faceplate .ECKHA! Removing the faceplate If you are replacing a non-LCD faceplate with an LCD faceplate, follow the instructions on page 3 to remove the top cover of the tape drive. Place the tape drive on a flat surface. Align the bottom of the replacement faceplate with the bottom of the tape drive.

" Connecting the LCD flex cable If your replacement faceplate has an LCD, follow the steps in the next section to connect the LCD flex cable. If your replacement faceplate does not have an LCD and you removed the top cover, skip the next section and go to Replacing the top cover on page 7.

# Replacing the top cover Place the top cover on the tape drive so that the back edge extends about 1 inch (2.6 cm) over the back of the tape drive. Slide the cover forward carefully, guiding the tab on the top cover under the lip of the faceplate. A mylar flap inside the tape drive protects the cartridge loader.

§ If you have a faceplate with an LCD, make sure the LCD operates correctly. Refer to Exabyte Mammoth Installation and Operation (part number 306484) for more information about the LCD. If you experience problems, make sure the faceplate is positioned squarely on the front of the tape drive and the LCD cable is securely seated in the connector.
