To remove the front cover
Tools: 4 mm handle hex wrench; may need
a 4 mm L-hex wrench to break loose the
screws.
1. Turn the machine upright, again taking
care not to damage the encoder.
2. Remove the six remaining frame
screws.
3. Turn the handwheel until the take-up
lever is about halfway down into the
slot in the front cover.
4. Separate the front frame cover. Make
sure the take-up lever does not get
caught in the frame slot.
U CAUTION: The take-up lever is very
hard and will break, not bend.
 Note: If necessary loosen or remove the needle plate screws to remove the front cover.
