5. Open the EASYSENSE software. Select Interface from the unable to connect message (or
from the File menu). Check the interface is set to 'EasySense Range' and the method of
connection is Serial port. Select the Outgoing Bluetooth link as the COM port from the drop-
down list.
To check the Outgoing COM port number for the Bluetooth device
Double click on the Bluetooth Devices icon
Select the COM Ports tab.
The devices and the virtual Com ports they use will be shown in a list. Identify the
EASYSENSE Q logger by its serial number and note its 'Outgoing' COM port number.
If the incoming COM port is listed then to avoid
confusion as to which port to use in the Interface
connection's drop-down menu, select the Incoming
COM port and click on Remove.
Note: If you regularly alternate between a USB and
Bluetooth connection select 'Show at start up' in the
Interface window so it will automatically open when you
start the EASYSENSE program.
Question 4: I am using Bluetooth but the blue LED on my EASYSENSE Q isn't lit.
If the LCD display is blank press any button to wake up EASYSENSE Q. If the blue LED doesn't
light up check that Bluetooth is On (System menu ► Bluetooth menu ► Bluetooth On/Off and
select On). If the only option is Off then Bluetooth is not currently paired with a computer/Bluetooth
USB adapter. Follow the pairing instructions on page 32.
Question 5: My battery powered Bluetooth logger goes to sleep (when not being used)
within 5 not 9 minutes.
It is likely that your EASYSENSE Q has an earlier version of the firmware (V2.70 or less).
Update to the
latest firmware
Question 6: The Bluetooth option only shows OFF (so is not currently paired), the
Bluetooth Device Wizard already lists my logger as Passkey enabled and when I try to
pair I get 'pairing failed'.
• This can happen if EASYSENSE Q has been paired with another computer/Bluetooth USB
adapter. Press the red
current entry.
• Open the Bluetooth Device Manager. Select the Devices tab, select the logger you are using and
click on Remove.
• Repeat the normal pairing operation. Check there is an Outgoing COM ports entry for
your logger; if not add the COM port manually.
To add the COM port manually
If an Outgoing COM port was not shown as assigned in the Bluetooth Wizard it will need to be
added manually. There are several methods available:
