friction material without carrier
plate. Groove in coating mate-
rial indicates wear limit.)
If the wear marks have been
reached:
WARNING
Dropping below the minimum
pad thickness
Reduced braking action, damage
to the brake

In order to ensure the operat-
ing reliability of the brake sys-
tem, make sure that the brake
pads are not worn beyond their
minimum thickness.
Have brake pads replaced at
an authorized service facil-
ity, preferably an authorized
BMW Motorrad retailer.
BMW Motorrad recommends
only installing original brake
pads from BMW Motorrad.

Checking brake fluid level

of the front wheel brake
WARNING
Insufficient brake fluid in the
brake-fluid reservoir
Considerably reduced braking
performance caused by air in the
brake system
Adjust the riding mode imme-
diately until the fault is rectified.
Check brake fluid level
regularly.
Place the Scooter on its center
stand, ensuring that the ground
is level and firm.
Align handlebars so that brake-
fluid reservoir is positioned hor-
izontally.
Read the brake fluid level on
the sight glass 1 of the right-
hand brake fluid reservoir.
