Make sure the side bars are pushed all the
way in, you may find they need a light tap
with a wooden mallet or something similar.
If you are going to glue your joints this is the
first point you would do this.

Pilot hole, it is
easiest to drill
down through the
middle of the
mortise to make
sure you get the
hole in the correct
position
