SYSTEM TEST
Initial Test
Select the initial test by typing 1. The following dialog prints on the video screen. Type the respon-
ses printed here in color.

Remove system disk and install FORMATTED diskettes in (A and B) drives.
WARNING:
Contents of diskettes will be destroyed.
Type (P) to proceed with test
Type (E) to Exit to Diskette Diagnostic Menu
Remove the diagnostic diskette from drive A and install formatted diskettes in drives A and B.
Make sure that both doors are closed. Type:
P

The subtests run automatically, incrementing the subtest number n. When the 13 subtests run suc-
cessfully (after about 2 minutes, 45 seconds ), the program automatically switches to drive B. If
you selected a four drive system, the program will halt after testing drive B and instruct you to
move the formatted diskettes to drives C and D.
If you forgot to install a diskette in the drive or if you left its door open, the following error message
appears on the video screen.
ERROR: No index pulse, no disk, or drive not connected
If you installed an unformatted diskette in the drive or had a write-protect tab on the diskette, the
test will fail after part 8 and print the following error message.

WAITING ON ERROR, TYPE (P) TO PROCEED, (l) TO lOOP
Refer to the appendix for other diagnostic error messages, their causes, and their solutions. On
successful completion of the initial test, the program returns to the Diskette Diagnostic menu. See
Figure 4-6.
