Probable Cause
No diskette is in
drive, disk drive
door is open, no
system diskette is
loaded, diskette is
not fully in drive,
or diskette is upside
down.
You selected a
nonexistent drive,
or the disk unit
is not cabled
correctly.
Diskette is tight
on hub, or the center
hole is bent from
not being inserted
fully in drive or
from extensive use.
The diskette in drive
selected is formatted,
however, it is not the
system diskette.
You tried to boot
the system disk in
a drive other than
drive A, but door is
open on drive A
or no diskette is
loaded in drive A.
You tried to boot
the system disk in
a drive other than
drive A. but you did
not have a formatted
diskette loaded in
drive A.
The diskette you
tried to format has
a write-protect tab
on it, or it is loaded
upside down in drive.
Corrective Action
Place system diskette
fully in drive and make
sure the door is
closed. Reset terminal
and reboot diskette.
With two disk units,
RX 180-AB contains
drives A and B;
RX 180-AD contains
drives C and D. Make
sure their 110 cables
are installed correctly.
(See Chapter 2.)
With your index finger,
check center hole on
diskette for imperfection.
Make sure that the center
hole is not bent.
Use a new diskette.
Find the system diskette,
load it in drive A,
reset terminal, and
reboot diskette.
Insert a formatted
diskette in drive A,
close the disk drive
door, and type any key
to continue.
Reboot system diskette
in drive A, or insert
a formatted diskette in
drive A and reboot the
system diskette in
selected drive.
Remove the tab from
the diskette and try
again.
