7.2 Engine problems

Fault description
Engine does not start
Engine does not crank
when operating the starter
Low engine power
Engine overheating
Engine stops
No vibration
Cause
Turn the ignition switch to
position "0" (OFF).
Engine oil level too low
Fuel tap closed.
Fuel tank empty
Fuel system clogged
No ignition spark
Fuel nozzle clogged
Ignition switch defective
Starter defective
Air filter clogged
Throttle control defective
Engine defective
Carburettor defective
Lack of cooling air
Engine oil level too low
Fuel tank empty
Clean fuel screen in carbu-
rettor
Centrifugal clutch defective
V-belt broken
BVP 10/36 / BVP 18/45
Remedy
Turn the ignition switch to position "I" (ON).
Check the engine oil level, top up if necessary
Open the fuel tap.
Check the fuel level, top up if necessary.
Clean the fuel screen in the carburettor
Clean, check the spark plug, replace if neces-
sary
Have examined by a specialist
Have examined by a specialist

Clean the air filter, replace if necessary.
Have examined by a specialist
