PRECAUTIONS ON USING DRILL

1. Wear ear protectors w ith im pact drills.
Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
2. Use auxiliary handles supplied w ith the tool.
Loss of control can cause personal injury.

PRIOR TO OPERATION

1. Pow er source
Ensure that the pow er source to be utilized conform s
to the pow er requirem ents specified on the product
nam eplate.
2. Pow er sw itch
Ensure that the pow er sw itch is in the OFF position.
If the plug is connected to a receptacle w hile the
pow er sw itch is in the ON position, the pow er tool
w ill start operating im m ediately, inviting serious
accident.
3. Extension cord
When the w ork area is rem oved from the pow er
source. Use an extension cord of sufficient thickness
and rated capacity. The extension cord should be
kept as short as practicable.
4. Selecting the appropriate drill bit:
When boring m etal or plastic
Use ordinary m etalw orking drill bits.
When boring w ood
Use ordinary w oodw orking drill bits.
How ever, w hen drilling 6.5 m m or sm aller holes,
use a m etalw orking drill bit.

3. Hold the drill securely w hen using.
4. Do not w ear gloves m ade of stuff liable to roll up
such as cotton, w ool, cloth or string, etc.
5. Prior to drilling into w alls, ceilings or floors, ensure
there are no electric cables or conduits inside.

5. M ounting and dismounting of the bit
For keyed chuck (Fig. 1)
(1) Open the chuck jaw s, and insert the bit into the
chuck.
(2) Place the chuck w rench in each of the three holes
in the chuck, and turn it in the clockw ise direction
(view ed from the front side). Tighten securely.
(3) To rem ove the bit, place the chuck w rench into one
of the holes in the chuck and turn it in the
counterclockw ise direction.
For keyless chuck
(Fig. 2)
(1) Open the chuck jaw s, and insert the bit into the
chuck.
To open the chuck jaw s, hold the ring w hile turning
the sleeve in the counterclockw ise direction (view ed
from the front side).
(2) Firm ly grasp the ring and turn the sleeve in the
clockw ise direction. Tighten securely.
(3) To rem ove the bit, firm ly grasp the ring and turn
the sleeve in the counterclockw ise direction.
(4) If it is hard to loosen the sleeve, fix the spindle
using the open-end w rench, hold the sleeve firm ly,

6. Check the rotational direction (Fig. 4)
The bit rotates clockw ise (view ed from the rear
side) by pushing the R-side of the push button.
The L-side of the push button is pushed to turn the
bit counterclockw ise.

7. Installing the side handle (Optional accessory)
A Side handle can be installed on either side of
the tool for right or left handed use.
To install the side handle, thread it into the socket
on the desired side of the gear cover and tighten
it securely. (Fig. 6)
