PRECAUTIONS ON USING DRILL

1. When m ounting the drill bit or driver bit, insert it
fully into the drill chuck and com pletely tighten the
drill chuck w ith the chuck w rench.
If m ounting is not done properly, it is very dangerous
as the drill bit m ay slip or loosen during operation.
2. Do not w ear gloves m ade of stuff liable to roll up
such as cotton, w ool, cloth or string, etc.

APPLICATIONS
1. Drilling various materials

Use a m etal-w orking drill bit

Use a w ood-w orking drill bit (How ever, a m etal-
w orking drill bit to m ake pilot holes for w ood
screw s or holes sm aller than 6.5m m .)
2. Tightening w ood screw s (Only model FD10VB)
Use the driver bit. Use a Phillips screw for easy
tightening.

PRIOR TO OPERATION

1. Pow er source
Ensure that the pow er source to be utilized conform s
to the pow er requirem ents specified on the product
nam eplate.
2. Pow er sw itch
Ensure that the pow er sw itch is in the OFF position.
If the plug is connected to a receptacle w hile the
pow er sw itch is in the ON position, the pow er tool
w ill start operating im m ediately, inviting serious
accident.
3. Extension cord
When the w ork area is rem oved from the pow er
source. Use an extension cord of sufficient thickness
and rated capacity. The extension cord should be
kept as short as practicable.
4. Check the tightening of the drill chuck
The drill chuck has been tightened at the factory,
but check again that it is in order before use.
Turn the drill chuck clockw ise to tighten.
HOW TO USE
1. Operation of sw itch
Pulling the trigger of sw itch and push the stopper,
it keeps, the sw itched-on condition and it is

3. Do not touch the bit during or im m ediately after
operation. The bit becomes very hot during operation
and could cause serious burns.
4. When placing the drill on the floor, m ake sure that
the drill has stopped com pletely.
5. Before drilling into a w all, floor or ceiling, thoroughly
confirm that no item s such as electric cables or
conduits are buried inside.
6. When w orking in high position, take care of
dow nw ord direction.

2. Adjustment of speed

The m axim um speed can be obtained by pulling
the trigger sw itch.
[FD10VB]
(1) The speed is adjustable from zero to m axim um
speed according to the extent the trigger sw itch is
pulled.
(2) The m axim um speed is adjustable from zero to
2800 m in
(3) Turn the adjusting knob clockw ise for higher speed
and counterclockw ise for low er speed. (Rotate the
adjusting knob approxim ately 1-2/3 turns.) (Fig. 1)
(4) The sw itch can be locked w ith the stopper at any
required position irrespective as to how far the
adjusting knob has been rotated. Select a proper
position according to the required speed for each
w ork.
3. Confirm the direction of bit rotation (Fig. 2)
The bit rotates clockw ise (view ed from the rear
side) by pushing the R-side of the reversing sw itch
lever. The L-side of the lever is pushed to turn the
bit counterclockw ise.
CAUTION:
Never change the direction of bit rotation during
operating.
Turn the pow er sw itch OFF before changing the
direction of bit rotation.
4. For use as a drill
(1) M ounting drill bit
Tighten drill bit w ith the chuck w rench. There are
three holes in w hich the chuck w rench should be
inserted. Tighten them equally in turn at three holes,
w ithout tightening them only at one hole. The drill
bit can be rem oved in the opposite m ethod as
m entioned above. (Fig. 3)
