7. The PoE MIB draft defines the notification messaging support. This support includes
70 Configuration — Power over Ethernet
The transmission of all notification messages is enabled by default. Therefore, when
the threshold is reached, a warning message is sent to the log file. You can enable
or disable the PoE notification messages.
To enable the transmission of all notification messages to the log file on the Avaya
Ethernet Routing Switch 8300, enter the following command:
ERS-8310:5(config)#
poe notification slot 7
information on module power consumption, power usage threshold, port power
status, and backup PoE power status.
Because the webcam ports were PoE power-disabled at the beginning of this
example, you should enable PoE power to these ports. The following interface
configuration commands enable PoE power to the webcam ports:
ERS-8310:5(config)#
interface FastEthernet 7/11-7-48
ERS-8310:5(config-if)#
no poe shutdown 7/11-7/48
