Chapter 5: PoE configuration using the
This chapter describes how to configure PoE on the Ethernet Routing Switch 8348TX-PWR or 8348GTX-
PWR module by using the Device Manager (DM).
Device Manager is a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)-based graphical user interface (GUI)
tool that you use to manage single devices. To use Device Manager, you must have network connectivity
to a management station that runs Device Manager in one of the supported environments.
If 8348TX-PWR or 8348GTX-PWR modules are installed into an 86xx chassis, PoE is disabled and cannot
be enabled.
Caution:
Risk of equipment failure
Do not install Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 modules within the same chassis. Ethernet Routing Switch
8300 Series software does not support mixed configurations. A mixed configuration can damage the
modules and void your warranty.
