LOCKING THE CAR AND ARMING THE ALARM

Using the remote handset
HB0072
The handset has two buttons which, when pressed, send a coded
radio signal to a receiver in the car. Pressing the 'padlock' symbol
button activates the alarm system and pressing the plain button
deactivates the alarm system. On models with central door
locking, the 'padlock' symbol button also locks the car and the
plain button unlocks the car.
While it is not necessary to point the handset at the car, the handset
must be within range when the buttons are pressed. Note that the
operating range may vary depending upon handset battery
condition and may sometimes be limited by physical and
geographical factors beyond your control.

Locks & Alarm
Models with central door locking
Before locking the car, ensure doors, windows, sunroof, bonnet
and tailgate are fully closed.
Locking with the remote handset:
1. Press the lock button once:
• all doors are locked.
• perimetric alarm activated (protects the doors, bonnet
and tailgate).
• engine immobilisation activated.
• interior space protection activated
2. The direction indicator lights flash to confirm that the car is
securely locked and the anti-theft alarm indicator light (in the
instrument panel) starts to flash. If the direction indicators fail
to flash, this indicates a mislock (see 'Mislock', page 10).
NOTE: If the remote central door locking/unlocking fails to operate, check
the fuse (number 5) located in the engine compartment fuse box and replace
if necessary. If the fuse has blown, the central door locking can still be
operated manually by using the key in the driver's door lock, and the
engine can be remobilised by pressing the unlock button on the handset.
