Operating Instructions
The Model DLM-107A and DLM-107AH Digital Length
Meters are designed to accurately measure fabric length (or
other moving belt material), in feet or meters. The operator
controls the start and end of the measuring interval by
pressing the Measure Button. The Following procedure
should be followed:
1. The meter is supplied with 2 AA batteries installed in
the housing. To replace batteries, it will be necessary
to remove the extension handle by removing the two
flat head screws. (Important: Save these 4mm screws
for reassembling the handle to the instrument.) Be sure
to follow the polarity markings on the battery cartridge
when installing new batteries. (NOTE: If unit is to be
operated without the handle extension, disconnect the
remote switch by opening the in-line receptacle and
jack within the handle itself, attach the battery car-
tridge end plate to the housing and tape the remote
switch wire to the housing, covering the exposed
receptacle end.) With the handle extension removed,
the momentary power button on the side of the housing
must be held in during the measuring period.
2. Affix the measuring wheel to the instrument shaft,
being sure that the shaft cross pin engages the slot of
the wheel hub. TIGHTEN THE HUB SET SCREW. With
the handle held firmly, using one or two hands, bring the
wheel edge to the moving surface belt or fabric, supply-
ing a light to moderate amount of pressure, only
enough to assure good contact. There should be no
indication in the LED readout.
3. To start measurement on DLM-107A or DLM-107AH
models, press and release the red push button on the
handle. An increasing reading in feet will appear in the
window. To end the measurement, press the button
again and release it.* The reading will be displayed for
approximately 10 seconds and then disappear. To recall
the measurement after the reading has disappeared,
press the Memory Recall button on the face of the
instrument. To clear memory push and hold memory
button for 5 seconds.
Even though the measuring wheel continues to rotate after
the switch is turned off or the wheel is lifted from the
surface, the last reading will be held in memory. Measure-
ment is made only during the period when the power is on.
Reactivating the power switch erases the previous reading.
NOTE: a flashing display indicates battery low voltage.
Replace batteries as indicated in 1., above. To conserve
battery power, do not leave handle switch in the down or
"on" position, except during the measuring period.
