3. Connect the end of the ThinWire cable shipped with the new VAXmate
workstation to the T-connector on the last VAXmate workstation. Do not
remove the terminator from this cable.
4. Connect the T-connector to the new VAXmate workstation. Make sure
all connections are secure.
5. Inform the System Administrator that the network is available.
3.5.4 Adding a VAXmate Workstation to Middle of an Existing
Segment
Add a V AXmate workstation in the middle of an existing segment as follows
(Figure 3-8).
NOTE
This procedure shuts down the network operation on the segment.
1. Inform all users that the network will be shut down.
2. Remove the terminator and cable from the ThinWire cable shipped with
the new VAXmate workstation.

3. Connect the T-connector to the new VAXmate workstation.
4. Remove the ThinWire cable from the T-connector on one adjacent
VAXmate workstation.

5. Connect the ThinWire cable to one side of the T-connector on the new
VAXmate workstation.
