Scope of application/
appropriate use
Ball hitches can only be used for trailers which do not exceed
the required parameters (embossed on the ball hitch). Ball
hitches can only be coupled using coupling balls class A (ball
with a diameter of 50 mm) according to ECE-R55 regulation.
The pivoting areas of the coupling are shown in Fig. 1.
The ball hitch is provided with spring-loaded friction linings
enclosing the coupling ball of the vehicle on the front and
rear side. Thus the pitching and rolling motions of the trailer
are reduced or avoided. With new friction linings the optimum
damping is reached after a certain period.
The ball hitch can only be used with coupling balls acc. to DIN
74058 / ISO 1103 if the ball neck is free of attachment parts
within the area of 35 mm. See Fig. 1 (instead of 32 mm acc.
to DIN 74058 / ISO 1103)
It is not allowed to use ZKAS in combination with ball stud
with screw connection if there is no additional positive locking
device. See Fig. 2
If the stabiliser is switched on (Fig. 6) the operating lever
must be free of vehicle and attachment parts when driving.
} Note:
The operating lever cannot be used for
manoeuvring of the vehicle!

Installation instructions

The iSC 1.35 (type ZKAS 1.35) and iSC 3.0 (type ZKAS 3.0) ball
hitches are suitable for the drawbar diameter of 35 to 50 mm.
The iSC 3.5 (Typ ZKAS 3.5) ball hitch is suitable for the drawbar
diameter of 60 to 65 mm.
The ball hitches shall be installed in such a way that the cou-
pling point (with horizontal installation and permissible axle
load of the trailer) is positioned 430 ± 35 mm above the hori-
zontal plane of tyre contact. Deviations must be considered
when approving the trailer model.

3. 1. Assembly of trailer towing bar (round)

The ball hitch is assembled with cross-type screw connection
and a hole distance of 40 mm (1) + (3). See Fig. 3
