Characters in the encoding format come before the first data character (start) and after the last
data character (end), indicating the beginning and end of data.
Sentinel:
Track Separator:
A designated character that separates data tracks. The default character is NULL.
Terminator:
A designated character that comes at the end of the last track of data, to separate card reads. The
default character is CR (Carriage Return).
