2.7 Signal magnet for Tiptronic switch -
F189-
Two signal magnets -A- and -B- are installed in cover strip -1-.
These magnets send signals about the selector lever position to
the printed circuit board above them.
Caution
During installation work, magnet -A- may get stuck on metallic
objects (e.g. tools). In that case, it must be re-inserted in the
correct position.
The function of the selector mechanism will be disrupted if the
magnet is installed incorrectly or is missing.
– Even when installing a »new« cover strip, check whether mag‐
net -A- is present and is installed correctly
Renew the cover strip if the magnet is lost.
2.7.1 Checking installation position of the
magnet
– Take magnet -A- out of cover strip, e.g. using a screwdriver.
– Remove magnet from screwdriver and place on integrated
magnet.
When it is put in place, magnet -A- automatically turns to correct
installation position and is attracted by integrated magnet.
