4.1.1 Removing
– For all engine variants, it is advisable to remove »lower engine/
gearbox connecting bolts« before removing engine and gear‐
box.
If possible, torque converter securing bolts should also be instal‐
led as early as possible.
– Remove engine with gearbox ⇒ engine; Rep. gr. 10 ; Re‐
moving and installing engine .
Vehicles with V10 TDI engine
– Remove starter cable far enough that the connecting bolt can
be removed ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 27 ; Starter; Re‐
moving and installing starter .
