  • Page 5 The MIC TRAC addresses gage setting and calibration issues that were never possible before. All it takes is a little imagination. But, for those who don’t have time to imagine, Gagemaker provides gages and fixtures to accompany the MIC TRAC to make your job easier and more precise.
  • Page 7: Introduction

Proper positioning of the gage improves the accuracy of the calibration and provides more consistent results. Refer to the MIC TRAC MT-3000 Calibration Reference Cards and the Gage Calibration Setup Poster for information about using the CAL-PAK fixtures.

    1. After opening the cover of the shipping carton, check for signs of damage. Note: If the unit appears damaged, contact Gagemaker immediately at 713-472-7360. 2. To release the unit from the shipping carton, loosen and remove the wing nuts and washers.
  • Page 9 Unpacking and Handling (continued) 6. Since the MT-3000 weighs in excess of 100 pounds, use a crane or hoist to remove it from the shipping carton and place it on a secure surface. If this is not available, we recommend using two people to lift the unit out of the shipping carton.
  • Page 10: Returning The Mic Trac

If the unit is returned in any container other than the original shipping carton, there will be a charge of $240.00 for carton replacement when the gage is returned to you. Gagemaker is not responsible for any damages incurred during return shipment due to poor packing.

CPU Digital Readout Rear Panel The rear panel contains receptacles for plugging in the various cords that come with the MIC TRAC. CPU Rear Panel The CPU cable is connected to this port. The CPU cable connects the CPU to the MIC TRAC base unit. The cable can be inserted in only one position due to the pin arrangement.
  • Page 15: Mic Trac Setup Procedures

Each of the procedures on the following pages will help you to setup your MT-3000 properly. Removing Lifting Lugs (Optional) Materials Needed: • MIC TRAC MT-3000 base unit • 3/8" and 5/16" hex wrenches • Button head cap screws (included with unit) When the unit is in place, you may want to remove the (4) lifting lugs.
  • Page 16: Attaching Cables To The Cpu Digital Readout

Attaching Cables to the CPU Digital Readout Materials Needed: • MIC TRAC MT-3000 base unit • CPU digital readout • CPU power cord 1. Insure that the ON/OFF switch located on the rear panel of the CPU is in the OFF position.
  • Page 17: Mounting The Flat Face Anvils

Mounting the Flat Face Anvils (TF-1F Blocks) Materials Needed: • • MIC TRAC MT-3000 base unit 50 in/lb torque wrench • • Flat face anvils (TF-1F Blocks) ZEP I.D. Red Cleaner • • 5/32" hex wrench Lint-free cloth • 4 ea #10-32 socket head cap screws w/ washers The flat face anvils are mounted on the receiver pads of the MT-3000 to provide a measuring surface.
  • Page 18: Connecting The Optional Printer

Note: The MIC TRAC CPU has serial port for attaching a printer to the system. This procedure refers to the connection of a Seiko printer, Model DPU-411, which Gagemaker offers as an option to the system. For connection of any other printer, refer to printer manufacturer's instructions.
  • Page 19 The printout is a source of documentation to confirm actual gage setting dimensions. Space has been provided for the operator to input pertinent information for inspection traceability. Dimensions on the CPU readout print at the bottom of the printout.
  • Page 20: Zeroing The Mic Trac

Zeroing the MIC TRAC Materials Needed: • MIC TRAC MT-3000 base unit • CPU digital readout • Flat face anvils (TF-1F Blocks) 1. Turn the coarse adjust knob until the flat face anvils touch each other 2. Apply slight pressure to hold the faces of the anvils together.
  • Page 21: Setting External Measurement Mode

Setting External Measurement Mode 1. After zeroing the MT-3000 and with the flat face anvils touching, press the (internal/external) pad on the CPU front panel. The readout will display 1.5000, which is the outside dimension of the standard flat face anvils.
  • Page 22: Changing The External Zero Setting

Changing the External Zero Setting Note: The MIC TRAC CPU ships standard with a preset external zero setting of 1.5000. The 1.5000 reflects the outside dimension of a set of standard flat face anvils or TF-1F blocks. If necessary, this preset number may be changed by following the steps below. However, when using standard TF-1F blocks, the preset external zero setting should be reset to 1.5000.
