Never connect more than one person to the fall arrester.
Never obstruct the spooling of the strap.
The strap must always be tensed. In case of "slack", the equipment must be checked by the
manufacturer.
Make your movements on a normal walking speed. Accelerations, climbs and others engage
the clamping system of the equipment.

7-5 AIR CLEARANCE

Take into account the risk of injury and check before using the spooler that there is the necessary
minimum clearance under the user's feet, to avoid collision with the structure or the ground in the
case of a fall.
To do this, refer to your intended use to determine the applicable «H» value, including a 1 m safety
distance.
This value H is calculated based on a fall occurring from a standing position. An additional 0.7 m clea-
rance must be allocated when the user is working in a crouching or kneeling position. The "H» value
is calculated as follows:
a) STANDARD USE See figure 2a
For example, for a 100 kg user in the "normal" configuration, having connected their Turbolite Edge
at a height of 1m (Z) and a lateral shift of1.5m (X), the necessary clearance (H) underfoot will be2.5m.
b) TERRACE USE See figure 2b
For example, for a 140 kg user in the "terrace" configuration, having connected their Turbolite Edge at
foot level, at 0.5m from the edge of the terrace (Y) and a lateral shift of 1m (X), the necessary clearance
(H) underfoot will be 5.9m

8 - PERIODIC REVIEW

A periodic review checking the effectiveness and strength of the equipment is essential to ensure the
safety of the user.
This equipment must be examined at least once a year; a qualified person must examine this equip-
ment in compliance with these instructions and appropriate details of the inspection must be re-
corded. (see section 6).
At each periodic review, complete the form Appendix 5, page 208 and attach a new inspection label
Appendix 3 See page 207 (9) (tick the date of the next inspection). The frequency of examination
should be increased according to the regulations, in the case of heavy use or harsh environmental
conditions. It is your responsibility to make sure that this file is updated and archived. If nothing is
written on the identification file, the product must be considered as not having been maintained
and no guarantee will be given by the manufacturer. The legibility of the product markings must be
checked.

9 - LIFESPAN

The maximal life of PPE that is predominantly textile is evaluated as being 10 years after the date of
manufacture. Beyond this limit, the PPE must be immediately withdrawn from service and destroyed
by cutting the retractable strap. However, the following factors can affect the performance of the
product and its lifespan: improper storage and/or misuse (ignoring the instructions of this manual),
mechanical deformation, contact with chemicals (acids, alkalis, solvents, etc.) and exposure to high
heat (> 60 ° C).
In order to improve the working-life of your device, it is advised not to:
do not release the strap when it is completely unrolled, but help it spool slowly into the fall-
arrest block See figure 12
leave the cable, strap or the webbing out when not in use.
