OAM (Operation, Administration & Maintenance) is a set
of ATM management procedures which operate on the
network. Designated OAM cells are transmitted across the
network. The OAM cells carry information that is used for
alarm surveillance, performance monitoring and
troubleshooting on virtual circuits.
