  • Page 2: Introduction

The DCRG8F automatic power factor controller has been designed incorporating the state of the art in the functions required for dynamic power factor correction applications. Made with a dedicated housing of extremely compact dimensions, DCRG8F combines a modern front panel design with practical fitting and the possibility of expansion at the back, where modules of the EXP series can be housed. The LCD graphic display permits a clear and intuitive user interface.
  • Page 3: Operating Modes

OPERATING MODES The correctly selected mode is displayed in reverse at the centre of the home page. There are three possible operating modes, listed below: TEST Mode – When the controller is brand new and has never been programmed, it automatically enters in TEST mode that allows the installer to manually activate the individual outputs, so the correct wiring of the panel can be checked.

FRONT BUTTON LOCK The front buttons can be locked to prevent involuntary access to the pages of DCRG8F. To enable the button lock, go to the main page and then, holding down the ◄ button, press the L button three times then the M button twice.

  • Page 6: Waveform Page

    – The graph is automatically updated about every second. EXPANDABILITY – Thanks to the expansion bus, DCRG8F can be expanded with additional modules of the EXP series. – It is possible to connect a maximum of 4 EXP… modules at the same time.
  • Page 7: Additional Resources

    – The two channels can communicate at the same time. – By activating the Gateway function, it is possible to have a DCRG8F equipped with an Ethernet port and a RS485 port which works as a “bridge” towards the other devices provided with the RS485 port only, and so obtain a saving (one Ethernet access point only).
  • Page 8: Limit Thresholds

    – These are variables which status can be modified by the user through the communication protocol and that can be used in combination with outputs. – Example: using a remote variable (REMx) as a source for an output (OUTx), it will be possible to freely energise or de-energise one relay through the supervision software. This would allow the use of DCRG8F outputs to control loads, e.g.

In addition is necessary to set a different step number on every DCTL thyristor module, which must be equal to the step number set on the DRG8F regulator (e.g.: if I have configured on DCRG8F the step 3 as “Static-...
  • Page 10: Parameter Setting Through Pc

PARAMETER SETTING (SETUP) WITH PC – Xpress configuration and remote control software can be used to transfer parameters (previously set) from the DCRG8F to a PC hard disk and vice versa. – Parameter transfer from a PC to the DCRG8F may be partial, i.e. only the parameters of specified menus will be transferred.
  • Page 11: Parameter Tables

    – If the user does not press any key for more than 2 minutes, the system leaves the setup automatically and goes back to normal viewing without saving the changes done on parameters. – Remember that, solely for the setup data that can be edited using the buttons, a backup copy can be made in the DCRG8F’s EEPROM. This data can be restored, when necessary, in the work memory. The data backup copy and restore commands can be found in the commands menu.
