FloBoss 407 Instruction Manual
There is a possibility of losing the ROC/FloBoss configuration and historical data
held in RAM while performing the following procedure. As a precaution, save the
current configuration and historical data to permanent memory. Refer to Section
2.5.2.
Be sure to use proper electrostatic handling, such as wearing a grounded wrist
strap, or components on the circuit cards may be damaged.
During this procedure, all power will be removed from the ROC/FloBoss and
devices powered by the ROC/FloBoss. Ensure that all connected input devices,
output devices, and processes will remain in a safe state when power is removed
from the ROC/FloBoss and also when power is restored.
1. To avoid losing data, perform backups as explained in Section 2.5.2.
2. Loosen the captive screw to open the top door.
3. If the communications card is a dial-up or leased-line modem card, unplug the telephone
jack cable from board connector P2.
4. Remove the retaining screw from the middle of the communications card. Using a rocking
motion to disengage the connectors, pull the card free from the main circuit board.
5. To reinstall a communications card, orient the card with the COM PORTS arrow pointing
down. Plug the card into its mating connectors and gently press until the connectors firmly
seat. Install the retaining screw to secure the card.
6. For a dial-up or leased-line modem card, connect the phone jack cable to card connector P2.
7. If you are installing a replacement modem card, be sure to set the jumpers on the card in the
proper position (see Section 4.3.2) and to set the output attenuation level (Section 4.3.3).
8. Close the door and fasten the captive retaining screw.
9. Reconnect power to the ROC/FloBoss by plugging in the power terminal connector.
10. Using the ROCLINK software, check the configuration data (including ROC displays) and
FSTs, and load or modify them as required. Load and start any user programs as needed.
11. Verify that the ROC/FloBoss performs as required.
If you changed the configuration, save the configuration data to permanent configuration memory. If
you changed the configuration history database, ROC displays, or FSTs, save them to disk. See Section
2.5.2 for more information.
