b. Adjust length of push-pull tube to place elevator
in neutral (streamlined) position.
c. Adjust the two elevator cables at left wing strut
and the turnbuckle connecting elevator cables behind
instrument panel so both control wheels are the same
distance from the panel, proper cable tension is ob-
tained, and control lock will engage. Results of ad-
justing various turnbuckles, with rigging pin still in
place through elevator bellcrank, are as follows:
1. Loosening elevator DOWN cable turnbuckle
at strut and tightening elevator UP cable turnbuckle
at strut will move both control wheels forward.
2. Loosening elevator UP cable turnbuckle at
strut and tightening elevator DOWN cable turn-
buckle at strut will move both control wheels aft.
3. Loosening both turnbuckles at strut and
tightening elevator cable turnbuckle behind instru-
ment panel will move pilot's control wheel aft and
copilot's control wheel forward.
4. Loosening elevator cable turnbuckle behind
instrument panel and tightening both turnbuckles at
strut will move pilot's control wheel forward and co-
pilot's control wheel aft.
NOTE
Instead of rigging both control wheels the same
distance from the instrument panel, the ball ends
swaged on the elevator cables should be used as
reference
points when dual controls are not
installed.
d. After cables have been properly rigged, remove
rigging pin from fin and bellcrank.
e. Adjuststop bolts contacted by elevator bellcrank
and left balance weight arm to obtain correct elevator
travel.
NOTE
An inclinometer for measuring control sur-
face travel is available from the Cessna Spare
Parts Department.
Refer to figure 6-5.
f.
Be sure all components are secure and safetied
as required, then reinstall all parts removed for
access and installation.
WARNING
Be sure elevator moves in correct direction
when operated from cabin.
8-6.
ELEVATOR TRIM CONTROL SYSTEM.
8-7. A small bellcrank, mounted inside the elevator,
links the elevator trim tab actuator to the push-pull
channel which operates the trim tab. The bellcrank
provides a differential rate of movement of the trim
tab to furnish more rapid movement to and from the
tab down (nose up) position and slower movementto
and from the tab up (nose down) position.
8-8. TROUBLE SHOOTING.
