3-28. CABIN HEADLINER INSTALLATION.
a. Prior to installation, be sure items concealed
by headliner are secure. Use wide cloth tape to se-
cure loose wires to fuselage.
Check all openings in
wing root and seal if necessary. Straighten any tabs
distorted during removal.
b. If soundproofing panels were loosened or re-
moved, cement in place.
c. Insert bows into new headliner.
d. Position two rearmost bows and attach headliner
edge to rear of cabin. Center material on bows, be-
ing careful not to destroy ceiling contour or distort
bows.
Secure headliner edge with pointed tabs and
where necessary, rubber cement.
e. Working forward, wedge each wire bow into the
retainer clips and attach suspension wires. Stretch
the material just taut enough to avoid wrinkles and
maintain a smooth contour.
f.
With all bows in place and fabric edges secure,
trim any excess fabric. Install all items that were
removed.
3-29. UPHOLSTERY SIDE PANELS. Removal of
side panels is accomplished by removing the seats
for access, then removing all attaching parts.
Screws secure side panels to the fuselage. The
door panel is attached with automotive type uphol-
stery clips. A dull putty knife makes an excellent
tool to pry these clips loose. Do not over-tighten
sheet metal screws. Larger screws may be used
in enlarged holes if the added length causes no
interference with fuel lines, electrical wiring or
any other components.
3-30. WINDLACE (DOOR SEAL) is primarily a
decorative trim around the perimeter of the door
opening. It also provides additional sealing. The
windlace is positioned between the side panel and
door structure, and is secured with sheet metal
screws.
3-31.
CARPETING. The carpeting is bonded to
polyethel foam cushion, which in turn, is cemented
to the floorboards.
Scuff plates are installed over
the carpet at points of extreme wear. To remove
carpet, remove all trim, scuff plates, and any
attaching screws. When replacing, save the old
carpet for use as a pattern.
NOTE
Do not cement center section of carpet to
floorboards. This section of carpet covers
the main access tunnel, which runs the length
of the cabin.
