4 Adjustments
Clutch / Steering Adjustments
IDLER PULLEY /
CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT
Perform the following adjustment if the rider drive belt
does not completely declutch when the clutch/brake
pedal is depressed.
1. To inspect the belt, start the engine and apply the
parking brake. The drive belt should not be rotating
with the parking brake applied.
2. Turn off the engine and release the parking brake.
3. Hydro Models: See Figure 6. Inspect the idler pulley
plate (A) for correct position. The forward edge of the
flat washer (B) should be positioned at the forward
edge of slot (C). If adjustment is required, proceed to
step 4.
Gear Models: See Figure 7. The clutch rod end (D)
should be positioned in the middle of the slot in the
idler arm assembly with the clutch / brake pedal
released. If adjustment is required, proceed to step
5.
4. Loosen capscrew (D) and taptite screw (E) securing
pivot plate (A).
5. Hydro Models: Rotate the pivot plate (A) until for-
ward edge of flat washer (B) is positioned at the for-
ward edge of slot. Tighten the attaching hardware
when adjustment is correct.
Gear Models: Engage the parking brake and loosen
the idler arm adjustment hardware E, Figure 7.
Rotate the idler arm assembly slightly and tighten the
hardware (E). Release the parking brake and repeat
step 3.
6. Inspect the belt again with the engine running and
parking brake engaged. The belt should not rotate.

STEERING GEAR ADJUSTMENT

If there is excessive backlash in the steering system, the
steering gear can be re-indexed to the steering shaft.
1. See Figure 8. Loosen the two capscrews and push
bracket so that gear teeth are closely meshed.
2. Tighten nuts after adjustment.
