BELT REPLACEMENT

Drive Belt Replacement - Hydro Models

BELT REMOVAL
1. Remove the mower deck. See Mower Deck Repair
section for instructions.
2. Block the front tires and elevate the rear of the unit.
See Elevating the Rear End for Safe Service.
3. Loosen the engine belt guides.
4. Loosen the torque straps (A, Figure 1) and transmis-
sion mounting bolts (B).
5. Disconnect the idler arm spring (C, Figure 1) from the
corner of the rider frame.
6. Remove the cotter pin and washer from the rear
clutch rod (A, Figure 2) and disconnect the rod from
the idler arm assembly (C).
7. Remove the long carriage bolt (B, Figure 2) and
spacer that attach the idler arm assembly (C) to the
frame and let the arm hang on the belt.
8. Note the position of the idler pulley belt guide relative
to the idler arm. Loosen the idler pulley belt guide
and remove the belt.
9. Separate the front and rear shift rods (D and E Figure
2).
10. Loosen the transmission control linkage (D, Figure 1).
11. Unplug the electric clutch.
12. Remove the drive belt.
BELT INSTALLATION
13. Install the belt onto the idler assembly and orient the
idler pulley belt guide as noted in step 8.
14 Install the new belt onto the transmission drive pulley
and engine PTO pulley.
15. Retighten the torque straps (A, Figure 1) and trans-
mission mounting bolts (B).
16. Reassemble the front and rear shift rods (D and E,
Figure 2).
17. Retighten the transmission control linkage D, Figure
1).
18. Reinstall the idler arm assembly (C, Figure 2).
19. Reinstall the idler arm spring (C, Figure 1).
20. Perform Neutral Adjustment. See Adjustment sec-
tion.
21. Perform Return-to-Neutral Adjustment.

22. Reattach the mower deck.
