16 Mower Deck Service
Pulley Replacement / Arbor Removal & Installation
WARNING
Before beginning any service work, turn the PTO
off,set the parking brake, turn the ignition switch
off, remove the key, disconnect the spark plug
wire, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

IDLER PULLEY REPLACEMENT

Refer to Figures 2, 3, and 6 for assembly diagrams.
1. Remove mower deck (see MOWER REMOVAL &
INSTALLATION, Section 6).
2. Remove the nut and capscrew securing the idler pul-
ley to the idler arm.
Note the location and quantity of spacers and wash-
ers above and below the idler when removing the
capscrew. Also note the position of the belt guide.
3. Place the new Idler assembly on the idler arm and
secure with the original hardware. Make sure the
correct quantity of washers/spacers are placed above
and below the pulley.
4. Align the belt guide in its original position so that the
guide is midway between the belt wrap around the
pulley.

ARBOR SERVICE

Arbor Removal & Installation
1. Remove the mower deck (see MOWER INSTALLA-
TION & REMOVAL, Section 6).
2. Remove the belt guard if required to access the
arbor.
3. Remove mower drive belt. (see MOWER BELT
REPLACEMENT, Section 5).
4. Remove mower blade from spindle to be removed
(see MOWER BLADE REMOVAL & INSTALLATION,
Section 6).
5. From the bottom of mower deck, remove the six tap-
tite hex screws securing the spindle flange to the
mower deck (see Figure 9).
6. Remove the arbor assembly from the deck.
Install in reverse order of removal.
