A constant idle speed is displayed if the speed signal strength is
sufficient:
– Accelerate engine to approx. 3000 rpm
A constant speed display must now be shown on the LCD
display.

5.3 Searching for the speed signal

i Do not move the speed sensor for approx. 2 - 3 s after
placement. The speed sensor needs this time to adjust to the
speed signal.
i 3-step setting switch for sensitivity:
Switch position –
Center position
Switch position +
If the speed signal is not strong enough:
– Place the speed sensor closer to the distributor, ignition cable
or ignition coil
– Rotate the speed sensor to the left or right by 90°
– Set the 3-step setting switch for sensitivity (7) to a higher
setting until a sufficiently strong speed signal is received (rapid
flashing of the speed signal LED).

5.4 Starting a new speed measurement

A new speed measurement is started by pressing the Repeat
key R (8).

6. Troubleshooting

– Speed signal LED (9) does not flash / no display
- Make sure that all connecting cables are connected correctly
- Check the power supply
– The connected engine diagnostic system does not indicate any
speed although an engine speed is shown on the LCD display.
- Make sure that the connecting cable is connected to the
correct terminal at the 12 V pulse output or
- Make sure that the trigger clamp-on pickup and inductive
coupling loop are connected correctly
- Make sure that the trigger clamp-on pickup closes properly
- No gap must be visible between the contact surfaces of the
ferrite core
- Carefully blow out metal chips on the ferrite core with oil-free
compressed air
- Remove oily residue on the contact surfaces of the ferrite
core with a clean soft cloth
Contact your Bosch after-sales service representative if this still
does not remedy the above faults and for any other faults.
