Questions and answers
Just fired up my new Radiance millivolt model and the flame does not look exactly like the picture in this manual. How can I correct this issue.
To correct the flame appearance issue on your Vermont Castings Radiance RADVT Series millivolt model, follow these steps:
1. Check the Flame Pattern ā The flames should be blue during the first 15-20 minutes of operation and gradually turn yellow. If the pattern differs, adjustments may be needed.
2. Inspect the Pilot Flame ā Ensure the pilot flame is strong and properly impinges on the thermopile and thermocouple. If the flame is too low, clean and/or adjust it.
3. Check for Blockages ā Inspect the burner orifices for debris and remove any obstructions.
4. Ensure Proper Venting ā Check the vent terminal for blockages that could cause improper combustion and recycling of flue gases.
5. Test the Thermopile Voltage ā Measure the thermopile voltage while holding the valve knob depressed in the pilot position with the wall switch off. It should read 250-300 millivolts (minimum 150). If below the minimum, replace the faulty thermopile.
6. Verify the Gas Valve Function ā Turn the valve knob to "On" and place the wall switch to "On." If the millivolt meter reads greater than 150mV but the burner does not ignite, replace the gas valve.
If the issue persists, contact a qualified technician or your Vermont Castings dealer.
