General installation and
operating information
Mounting and installation must be performed by a qualified spe-
cialist company!
The unit must be installed in a room protected from frost and with
short pipe runs.
The connection must be carried out in accordance with DIN 1988
and DIN 4753 Part 1. All connecting sleeves which are not re-
quired should be sealed with vent plugs.
The operating pressures stated on the type plate must not be ex-
ceeded. If necessary, a pressure reducer should be installed.
Electrical inserts (screw-in heaters) should only be connected by
authorised electricians according to the corresponding circuit di-
agram. All relevant requirements of the utility company and VDE
regulations must be observed.
The PWD combo tank is used in heating systems with flow tem-
peratures of up to 90 °C.
In low-temperature systems, the flow temperature must not be
higher than 75 °C.
All heating systems must be built according to DIN 4751:
4571 sheet 1: Closed systems.
4751 sheet 2: Thermostatically protected systems with a maxi-
mum heat output of 350 kW and 2.5 bar.
Start-up:
Ensure that the water supply is turned on and the tank is filled be-
fore start-up. The initial filling and start-up must be carried out by
an authorised specialist company. The entire system, including
all factory-fitted components, should be inspected to ensure that
everything is working properly and that there is no leakage.
The electrical insert (if present) should be de-scaled every two
years, or more frequently in particularly hard water areas. This
should be combined with a functional test.
Our guarantee is only valid if both the DIN standards listed above
(currently valid version) and these installation and operating in-
structions are observed.

Factory inspection
Every PWD combo tank is tested for pressure and leakage.

Mounting the covering
and thermal insulation
1)
Before mounting the covering/thermal insulation, re-tighten
all screws on the heat exchanger stub in a cross pattern.
2)
Re-tighten the nuts on all water connections. An end plate
(inside the cover) protects the connection fitting from over-
tightening. Covering and thermal insulation must be fitted
before the pipework.
This consists of: Side panels as follows:

1 unit cover insulation

1 unit base insulation

1 unit cover plate

4 units insulating collars
f)
4 units neck flange covers
g)
4 units neck cover insulation
h)
8 units rosettes

Remove the insulating components from the packaging
(cladding, cover, base, neck flange covers, collars etc.).
If the solar heat exchanger is installed at a later date, the
neck flange cover in the flow and return section must be in-
dividually adapted (make cut-outs with a Stanley knife).
4)
Lay base insulation c) - with foil laminate - down underneath
the tank.
5)
Align the combination tank using the 3 saucer-head screws
(adjusting screws).
