Access Control Configuration
In an Access Control configuration, Ethernet
ports 1 through 3 and the built-in WAP require a
user login and provide high-speed Internet
access. Port 4 is reserved for an optional KVH
service, such as Global Static IP.
a. This configuration is identical to the static IP
configuration described on the previous page
with one exception: user names, passwords,
and data allocations are enforced to control
access to the High-speed LAN. Internet
access is restricted.
b. Follow the steps in "Standard Configuration"
on page 33.
c. Inform the customer that they need to set up
user names and passwords and allocate data
for each High-speed LAN user at the mini-
VSAT Manager (www.mykvh.com).
Optional CommBox Software
CommBox software extends the system's
network capabilities (see Figure 71). Two options
are available:
• Standard Bundle: Provides least cost routing,
onboard firewall, web caching, web image
compression, ad removal, and URL and
content filtering
• Enterprise Bundle: Adds automated file
transfers, differential synchronization, mail
relay server, web mail client, anti-spam and
anti-virus filters, roaming crew accounts, and
prepaid Internet and email services;
integration with a CommBox hub is required
KVH will coordinate directly with the customer
to select, install, and configure the appropriate
bundle to meet their needs.
